KUANTAN – Two people including a senior citizen were killed in separate accidents in Pahang on Monday.

Pahang public order and traffic police chief Supt Mohamed Fauzi Abdul Rahim said the first accident took the life of 69-year-old Asri Adol after a car rammed into the motorcycle he was riding on at Kilometre 25.8 of Jalan Maran-Bandar Jengka.

In the 8.40am incident, the victim was on his way from Felda Jengka 5 to Felda Lepar Utara when he was believed to have made a sudden U-turn.

"A car which was driven by a man from the opposite direction crashed into the victim's motorcycle," he told reporters here Tuesday.

Meanwhile, an Indonesian labourer was killed after the lorry ferrying him and a friend crashed into a hillside near a iron ore mine near Ulu Lepar, Sri Jaya.

Mohamed Fauzi said in the 4.50pm incident, it is believed the lorry had a faulty gear which led the victim to lose control of the vehicle he was driving before it crashed.

The victim, whose identity had yet to be ascertained, died on the spot while his friend sustained minor injuries, he added. – BERNAMA
