SEPANG, Oct 9 – Felda climber Siti Hanisah Sharuddin will climb Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania starting this Saturday in continuing a mission to conquer the seven highest peaks in seven continents by January 2015.

Siti Hanisah, 23, from the Felda Jelai 1 scheme in Gemas, Negeri Sembilan, is expected to take six days to climb Africa's tallest mountain at 5,895 metres accompanied by coach Zainudin Lot.

The climb, organised by the Kelab Eksplorasi Tujuh Benua (KE7B), is the third after Mount Elbrus (5,642 metres) in continental Europe in June last year and Mount Everest (8,848 metres) in May this year.

"I will have to cross a lava field on this climb. However, the actual challenge is a 10km rock-strewn route to reach the top.

"I also have to be careful to avoid food poisoning," she said at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport before leaving for Nairobi, Kenya today.

Siti Hanisah, a Royal Malaysian Navy personnel, had been training continuously upon her return from Mount Everest.

Meanwhile, KE7B president Muhamad Muqharabbin Mokhtarrudin said Siti Hanisah was expected to continue the mission by climbing Mount McKinley (6,194 metres) in North America and Aconcagua (6,960.8 metres) in South America by the year-end.

"She will then climb the Vinson Massif (4,982 metres) in Antartica and Carstensz Pyramid (4,884 metres) in Australia to complete the mission by January 2015," added Muhamad Muqharabbin, who climbed Everest in 2004. – BERNAMA
