FELDA SAHABAT, Lahad Datu: The Armed Forces Open Day held here yesterday attracted more than 1,000 people.

State Secretary Tan Sri Sukarti Wakiman launched the programme here, www.dailyexpress.com reported.

The event was simultaneously held in 32 locations throughout the country with the aim to strengthen ties between the Armed Forces and local communities.

One of the visitors, Suhana Abdul Said, 31, said the programme provides an opportunity to the people to mingle with the Armed Forces and get more information on the forces.

"I am so excited to be here. This is my first time to attend such open day that is full of activities and I have the chance to meet the army and other security forces.

They are friendly and full of information," she said.

According to Suhana, people get to see the military assets such as the tank and other weapons.

"I hope such programme will be held again as it could attract the people and make us understand the roles and efforts of our security forces in defending and protecting our country," she added.

In the event, Sukarti also presented contributions to the Armed Forces, police and the affected villagers, Daily Express reported.
