Lahad Datu: Couple gets married in Felda Sahabat ABN News | Eng Posted: 24 Mar 2013 09:26 AM PDT LAHAD DATU, March 24 — Despite the heavy presence of security forces in Felda Sahabat, following the terrorist intrusion, a gutsy couple decided to go ahead with their wedding ceremony today. The move by Yusran Yunus and Suliza Zakaria also means that peace has returned to the location. Like many other couples, they could not resist the school holidays as an opportune time to take the plunge. They even merrily marched down the village thoroughfare, accompanied by the traditional Igal-Igal dance of the Bajau tribe with a feast for 300 guests. The ceremony from 10am to 2pm, was closely watched by security forces as the location is just 30km from the 'Ops Daulat' red zone. Yusran said the wedding was scheduled for January but was postponed to last month before being put off again, following intrusion by the terrorists from southern Philippines.- BERNAMA |
Felda has yet to assess damages incurred by Felda Sahabat in ... Posted: 28 Mar 2013 09:05 AM PDT PORT DICKSON, March 28 – Felda has yet to assess the damages incurred by Felda Sahabat in Lahad Datu, Sabah following the intrusion by Sulu terrorists. Chairman Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad said Felda is still waiting for permission from the police and armed forces before making assessment of the damages. "Felda cannot make any assessment as we are not allowed to enter the area. We are still waiting for permission but do not know for how long," he told reporters after opening a Bumiputera Contractors Empowerment Seminar here today. Mohd Isa said the only problem solved was the shipment of palm oil from the jetty. "Royal Malaysian Navy vessels are escort our vessels to ensure safety. Without this, we cannot move about freely. Felda Sahabat which covers 95,000 hectares has 10 palm oil mills." He was confident that Eastern Sabah Safety Zone (ESSZONE) would be able to provide safety, comfort and relief to the people of Sabah. On plans to beef up Felda Auxiliary Police in Felda Sahabat, Mohd Isa said the matter was being considered. "It depends on the strength of the police and the armed forces in the area. We will discuss it with the police," he added.- BERNAMA |
